Under ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ my focus was on rural areas where the awareness & implementation of the ‘Swachh Bharat’ campaign was vital. Hence my never tiring team of faculties & students cleaned 22 villages like Nenpur, Tragada, Vanch, Shantipura, Charodi, Manipur and many more. Students of N.R.PGDM participated in Rural Immersion Drive at 22 different villages of Gujarat, with a motive of creating awareness about the importance of cleanliness, cultivating the virtue of cleanliness and setting an example for others to follow. Along with me, the initiative was spearheaded by Dr. Hitesh Ruparel, Director General, GLS University and Dr. Rajesh Asrani, Dean, The School of Doctoral Research. Student efforts resulted in 300 villagers participating in the cleanliness drive and 11000 people taking the Swachta pledge by signing Pratigya Patras. Various activities such as Rally for Cleanliness Awareness, Drawing Competition, Skit, Essay Writing Competition, Drama and Role Play were carried out.
Apart from that, students of Visalpur village were encouraged to put up self-created dustbins as a step towards clean surroundings through the ‘Best from Waste’ competition. Sarpanches of these villages were overwhelmed with the initiatives taken by the students and supported them in their drive towards cleanliness. They gave a very positive feedback of their efforts.
